The Soul-and-a-Halves are a gang of children under the leadership of Notkin. Following Notkin's ousting from the Polyhedron he retreated to the Warehouses and created the Soul-and-a-Halves. The Soul-and-a-Halves are dual-souls, each chosen by an animal companion that acts as their extra half of a soul. They put value in the simplicity of Earth and animals. They are a counter to Khan's Dogheads. They believe that the Polyhedron is the root of all evils.

Pathologic

In Pathologic the Soul-and-a-Halves are a nuisance to Bad Grief and his gang.

In order to join the Soul-and-a-Halves, children must adopt a pet and care for it. According to Notkin, this means they have half a soul more than normal people and normal animals, thus the group's name. The Soul-and-a-Halves change as they care for their Halves, and as they grow older, the Half will take care of them, thus binding the two together forever.

The Soul-and-a-Halves are responsible for the creation of a map of infected districts. On Day 3, Notkin will ask the Haruspex for 10 Twyrine Extracts for his scouts. If the request is fulfilled, Notkin will sell him the map for varying monetary value. If the request is not fulfilled, Notkin will sell the map for an increasing amount of Razors and Crowbars.

Day 4 500 coins 3 razors
Day 5 1000 coins 2 crowbars
Day 6 500 coins 2 crowbars
Day 7 2000 coins 3 crowbars

Day 9 1500 coins 4 crowbars

Pathologic 2

The Dogheads, the snobs, only see things from their ivory tower… My Soul-and-a-Halves know the Town inside and out.

All Soul-and-a-Halves have a Leash that denotes their status as a Soul-and-a-Half. The Haruspex is rewarded one for his help dealing with Lika.

The Soul-and-a-Halves are one of the first people outside of the Earth Quarter to be affected by the Plague. One of their members, Patches, is the Haruspex's first patient. The Soul-and-a-Halves are responsible for a daily map of infected districts, which their member Dandy will trade in exchange for sharp objects.
