“ | Modernity is a very active and aggressive element that’s always seeking to grow its influence. That’s why we have to level it out with “fluid things” wherever possible. We can’t let through a roleplayer who’s wearing sneakers. If authentic footwear isn’t an option, you can settle for something nondescript made of leather. | „ |
— From the Pathologic 2 artbook |
Clothes are equippable items in Pathologic 2. They can be equipped to boost resistances against physical damage and infection, and cloaks can also be used to upgrade the Haruspex's inventory. All clothing items can be purchased from Tailors or looted from houses (houses in burned districts apppear to spawn clothes more often), however certain clothing sets will not be available in stores until a certain point in the game. Very rarely, items of clothing can be looted from houses prior to their formal introduction to stores.
Each clothing category excels in defending against one of the four major sources of plague, which are as follows:
- Masks protect from plague clouds.
- Cloaks protect from contact with diseased people.
- Gloves protect from infected surfaces.
- Footwear provide improved protection from infected air in infected districts.
- Cloaks, masks and gloves also protect from passive infection, but much less than footwear.
Articles of clothing will degrade faster when subjected to their respective variant of infection damage. As an example, because footwear has a heightened resistance against infected air, it will degrade faster than other articles of clothing when moving through infected districts.
Articles of clothing from the same quality tier have identical physical resistances. Clothing items lose durability whenever taking physical- or plague-based damage. Both physical and disease resistances stack by sum.
