Lockpicks are a melee weapon found in Pathologic 2. In addition to functioning as weapons, they can also be used to open locked doors. Lockpicks are consumable items, and cannot be repaired as their durability fades. They can be found by looting bodies (typically Bandits, Looters, and infected bodies), bought from Bad Grief, or traded from Dandy in the Soul-and-a-Half Fortress. They can be traded to militiamen, traded to the Dead Item Shop, or sold to Bad Grief. Lockpicks of higher durability will be worth more to those who trade for them.

If a Lockpick's durability is depleted entirely by an attack, it will break and be permanently lost. So long as the attack is not blocked, a portion of the lockpick will break off in its target, who will die instantly. If the target dodges, the attack may or may not instantly kill them, depending on whether its hit is registered during the dodge (regardless the Lockpick will still break).

Lockpicks have a different art asset in Pathologic: The Marble Nest. The Bachelor obtains Lockpicks by trading with Shrew or through speaking to a soldier outside of a guarded home near the Stillwater. Unlike the Haruspex, the Bachelor cannot equip Lockpicks as a melee weapon.

You can either cut someone with it, or use it to pick a door lock. Either way, this sharp piece of metal will break after a couple of uses. A tool to open ordinary doors. Children make them from random trash.

Twisted an uneven, the local lockpicks require a fast, jabbing motion to unlock a door, else they'll become uncoiled. (Demo)

It is taboo to cut flesh in the Town, but crafty people know how to bend the rules. These supposed lockpicks can produce inhumanely painful wounds. Perhaps breaking and entering is better. These lockpicks are better than the kind the locals would stick into each other's' guts, before the second decree of the late governor Saburov.

It is said that Clara the Changeling, a thief girl who claims to be blessed, can open any door just as easily as she heals the sick, by laying on hands. Why are her pockets always filled with lockpicks then? (Demo)

Notes

  • Breakage of Lockpick can kill army flamethrowers. This is likely a bug, because they don't have a death animation and proper loot.
  • Lockpicks take up 2x1 inventory slots. They do not stack.

Bloody Lockpick is a unique Lockpick found in Pathologic 2. It functions identically to normal Lockpicks (in that it can open locked doors and can be used as a melee weapon), except that it cannot be traded or sold.

It can be obtained during Act 1 (which starts directly after the Prologue, and ends at 07:30 on Day 2) by performing an autopsy on one of Bad Grief's men, Piecework, in a house positioned on the east side of the Grocery in the Tanners district. The Bloody Lockpick can be found in Piecework's left most organ slot, where his Kidney would normally be.

If the Bloody Lockpick's durability is depleted entirely by an attack, it will break and be permanently lost. So long as the attack is not blocked, a portion of the lockpick will break off in its target, who will die instantly. If the target dodges, the attack may or may not instantly kill them, depending on whether its hit is registered during the dodge (regardless the Bloody Lockpick will still break).

It clearly got inside Piecework's gut unnaturally. I doubt anyone would want to trade for this thing; but I can use it. Item is not present in The Marble Nest. It clearly got inside Piecework's gut unnaturally.

Piecework might have deserved it, but doctors are like soldiers: we don't get to choose who we save… Do we? Item is not present in The Marble Nest. A Lockpick is an item found in Pathologic that fills a slot in the Weapons tab of the inventory, although they cannot be used for combat. Lockpicks are used to break into houses. They can be obtained by trading with children or bought from Bad Grief.

The Changeling has a Lockpick in her inventory from the start of her route. Unlike the other characters, she is able to stack Lockpicks in her inventory, with up to 10 Lockpicks per stack.

A homemade disposable lockpick. Such lockpicks can be used to open simple locks on the doors of typical houses.
