A Liver is an organ in Pathologic 2. It can be harvested from healthy and infected corpses by the Haruspex via autopsy. As of Day 4, Livers can be combined with a Tincture within the Brewery to create Painkillers. It can be sold to Var, traded to Worms, and traded to the Dead Item Shop.

If consumed by the Haruspex, Painkillers (and Antibiotics) brewed with a Liver will give him a buff for 2 in-game hours, during which time his exhaustion recovery in sleep is improved.

A body is not to be cut open. It's only allowed for menkhu—wise men who know where a body wants to give—and butchers, who accept sin. The word for butcher, "yargachin," also means "surgeon." Item is not present in the Marble Nest. Cutting open any bodies, including human, is taboo in our town. According to the "Baur Meges" steppe myth, the wholeness, harmony, and finiteness of the body are sacred. Only a person who possesses knowledge has the caste right to break this wholeness. Such people are allowed to work as doctors, butchers, or tattoo makers.

Notes

  • Livers take up a 1x2 slot in the inventory. They stack up to 5.
  • When trading, a liver is worth 3 to Worms and 7 to the Dead Item Shop.

A Liver is an item in Pathologic. It can be traded to Worms in exchange for herbs.

Quote

Extracting organs from a human body is seen as a horrible blasphemy in the local tribal community. Only the menkhu are allowed to do this because they have an ancestral right to cut living bodies. However, some gatherers and also the Hunchback from the Atrium district would be willing to trade for something this rare...

An Infected Liver is an item in Pathologic. It can be used to brew Dead Gruel when combined with a twyrine extract.

Quote

Menkhu know how to prepare healing potions by treating organs with twyrine infusions. In this liver, harmful microorganisms are probably winning a fight against antibodies. The composition is constantly changing. A lot depends on the stage of infection.
